On December 4th 2017, the Government of Saskatchewan published its “Prairie Resilience: A Made-in-Saskatchewan Climate Change Strategy”. The strategy highlights carbon sequestration in agricultural soil, from activities such as No-Till or Low-Till farming, as a key factor in reducing carbon emissions. Carbon credits are planned as a way for the government to reward responsible farming operations and incentivize adoption of this type of practice.
We have been generating and selling carbon credits for farmers in Alberta since 2008 and are excited by this new opportunity. Starting in early 2018, we are planning meetings with farmers across Saskatchewan to discuss this revenue opportunity, and the ways you can be prepared to take advantage of it.
